Will you follow me into the spaces where meaning slips, and nothing is certain?
My work exists at the intersection of movement and sound, not as separate disciplines but as two currents of the same expressive force. Dance and music evolve together, shaping and informing one another, where rhythm becomes motion and movement breathes within musical structures.
Perhaps we can enter the rupture together, without knowing if it heals or deepens, and discover what kind of music it shelters.
Hodei Kaperotxipi
I am Hodei Iriarte Kaperotxipi, a media artist from the Basque Country. I trained in classical ballet at the Royal Conservatory Mariemma in Madrid and began my professional career as a contemporary dancer with the Baltic Dance Theatre in Poland, where I worked for three seasons before joining the Prague Chamber Ballet. I later became a company member at the Landestheater Linz, performing for three seasons under the direction of Mei Hong Lin.
Since 2019, I have pursued an independent career as a freelance artist, collaborating with various theaters in Germany and Austria. Over the years, I have worked with renowned artists such as Itzik Galili, Jiří Kylián, Johann Kresnik, Ashley Lobo, Patrick Delcroix, Daniel Morales Pérez, Ivan Alboresi, and Aleksandra Dziurosz, among others.
Alongside my performance career, I developed a strong interest in sound and composition. In 2019, I began creating music for dance pieces such as Up to Us by Valerio Iurato, as well as for theater productions including Iliad, directed by Aleksander Kaplun and choreographed by Andressa Miyazato. Since then, I have collaborated on multiple projects with Landestheater Linz, most notably composing the music for the Upper Austrian version of Suzie Miller’s acclaimed play Prima Facie. With TANZ LINZ, I also had the opportunity to perform my composition for LABO TRACES live at the Hybrid Bodies Festival at the OK Center Linz.
In 2025, I composed the soundtrack for EVENTO, a choreographic work created together with Giovanni Insaudo for TANZ LINZ, a collaboration that received excellent reviews. In May 2026, we will premiere a new work together for the Oper Graz. This year I also composed the music for the hybrid theatre and dance production Romeo and Juliet at Kulturhof Perg in Austria.
In the Basque Country I developed the choreographic residency AATXE in collaboration with Alberto Serrano within the framework of Dantzagunea, the choreographic center of the Gipuzkoa Provincial Council. At the same time, I choreographed K.OS, the new production of the contemporary circus company ZirKuSS.
