K. OS

Letters, Figures, and Cries
The performance begins quietly: a granddaughter discovers a forgotten box of unsent letters. As she opens them, voices from the past awaken. Each letter carries fragments of memory — stories of sudden flight, of loved ones lost, of the small acts of courage that hold people together in the darkest of times. From these letters, the characters of Guernica step out of Picasso’s canvas and into the present. The dove flickers between hope and fragility; the bull and the horse embody raw force and suffering; the soldier lies broken, yet still reaches upward; the mother and her child, the women of the lamp, the figures of the cry and the kneeling body — all return, not as frozen images, but as living presences.

Memory as Resistance
With the 90th anniversary of the bombing of Gernika approaching, K.OS speaks to the urgency of remembering. The performance does not seek to recreate the past, but to keep its presence alive: to transform horror into testimony, and silence into a cry. In a world where wars still mark our present, the piece becomes both a lament and a reminder — that memory itself can be an act of resistance.
